Columbia-Tusculum is Cincinnati’s oldest neighborhood. It lies on the south-eastern side of the city within walking distance of the Ohio River and is overflowing with character. Settled in 1788 by pioneers who arrived in flatboats via the Ohio River, Columbia-Tusculum was actually founded one month before Cincinnati. The city’s oldest continuously inhabited home is located here, and scenic river views abound, particularly on Tusculum Hill. Residents are an eclectic mix of young professionals and long-standing families, in what can only be called an “urban village” lifestyle.

Begun in 2008, the 50 million-dollar Columbia Square development includes office and retail, drawing businesses and shoppers. New home construction also continues, as residents strive to imitate the look of older Victorian homes. The neighborhood’s home tour brings history and architecture lovers as well as decorators to these amazing and accessible buildings.

Columbia-Tusculum is only seven minutes from downtown and 15 minutes from Interstates 71 and 75. The area is also close to Lunken Airport which offers recreation opportunities, including a skate park and a beloved bike path. One of the crowning jewels of the area, however, is Alms Park with a romantic history and a spectacular view of the Ohio River.
